PALMDALE – The city of Palmdale was named the 24th safest city in California with populations over 100,000 in a recent report by Safewise.com, an online resource that offers safety solutions, information, and recommendations.
Overall, Palmdale was listed as the 101st safest city out of the 229 ranked in the study.
Safewise.com used FBI crime statistics data to rank cities in each state and across the country. To add extra insight and depth to that assessment, they included demographic information and the results of their proprietary State of Safety research study. “We continue to make progress towards making Palmdale a stronger and safer community,” said Palmdale Mayor Steve Hofbauer. “Studies like this tell us we are on the right track, but we need to continue to work hard to ensure that every resident feels safe in their homes, businesses, schools, and parks.”
“We have set the bar high for public safety in the City of Palmdale,” said Mayor Pro Tem Laura Bettencourt. “As we continue to build partnerships with our Palmdale station, local businesses, and residents through programs such as Neighborhood Watch, we will create the kind of safe community we can all be proud of.”
“This is great news for our community,” said Palmdale Sheriff’s Captain Ron Shafer. “Major kudos go to the City of Palmdale for leading the way. From the City Council to all the employees and volunteers, their passion for improving the quality of life in Palmdale is boundless. We at the Palmdale Station are likewise committed to the cause of public safety as we are your family, friends, and neighbors. We will continue to grow our collaboration with the City and residents to reduce crime and improve public safety.”
“Public safety is a top priority for our City Council and they have guided us to make significant investments to ensure that our community has the resources needed to maintain a safe quality of life,” said Palmdale City Manager J.J. Murphy. “The key to making it all come together are the strong relationships between City staff, law enforcement, community partners, and our residents. This collaboration proves once again that Palmdale Cares about its people.”
Safewise.com contextualizes national crime and safety trends to show how they affect people and their neighborhoods. They use this knowledge to examine safety and security products. When they find flaws, gaps in coverage, or a practice that makes them raise their eyebrows, they let brands and consumers know. Safewise.com does more than conduct research—they test home security systems and smart devices in-house to report on the good, the bad, and the ugly.

Super safe I think I’m going to go for a walk down Palmdale Blvd tonight and do some window shopping.
na says
Yeah really if you flip the list its actually closer to being one of the more dangerous. A closer look tells us the whole entire high desert region from LA to San Bernardino county are a bit more outstanding for violent crime rates, similar to cities in the central valley region. Property crime rate might be more on the average side but the violent crime rate stand out. Lancaster already 7 homicides

The AV has become the biggest cesspool in the last 15 years with the 2020 and 2021 being the worst years so far. All these illegal pot growing tunnels all over Lake L.A. is f’ng ridiculous. Two have gone up in the last week right on avenue O. Tweeker trailers are everywhere and crime has skyrocketed. Plus illegal dumping is out of control. The demokkkrats and rinos have just about ruined California to the point of no return. Lord help us….

So move. See ya and bye bye.
Cancelled White Male says
“So move”. LOLOL. That is among the most ignorant and obtuse statements of the cancel culture vultures. I see Matt/William/Stinger/Dave is still patrolling these pages 24/7 to stamp out conservative opinion.
Stinger says
Wasn’t me, but you clearly have conspiracy and projection issues.
Just because you choose to use many different names to make yourself look like you have support doesn’t mean everybody else is doing that.
As for, ‘conservative opinion,’ you don’t have one. Your opinions are fascist and, as such, you are no conservative.
Matt says
LOL. Just giving him some options sir. Is that the same cancel culture used against Liz Cheney, and everybody else tour party censured for voting to impeach, maybe the same culture that boycotted the NFL, NBA, and anything else he called bad. Please spare me your in a victim of cancel culture when it runs rampant in your entire party. You just look away or label it something else what that happens. So dont give me your holier than thou attitude there bud.
Dave says
Matt, the hypocritical Republicans have been cancelling for years.
Remember the Dixie Chicks?
Never in human history has there been a politcal party as corrupt, indecent and dishonest as the current T-Party under Trump and his associates.
They lie, cheat, steal and make up stuff. You can quote me.
Claire says
Your opinions aren’t conservative, CWM.
Claire says
Donald Trump is the king of cancel culture, CWM. He has plenty for you to cancel, even as a private citizen. Read the news.
Claire says
CWM: I don’t go through the day boycotting anything that either political party dictates. I also think when you post your opinion here, you should be stable enough to handle opposing opinions, without thinking others are trying to stamp out your opinion.
Matt says
Thank you Claire for putting it more eloquently than I did.

Well said Matt

If you took the time to read the article you would have known that it never said Palmdale was the safest city. The safest city in the list was Danville. There is a link to the study. There are safer cities than Palmdale and cities that are not as safe.
Orange was listed as 35th safest city and we all know the tragedy that happened there a few days ago. Crime happens in every city.
