LANCASTER – More than eight dozen drivers were cited within a three hour time period Wednesday afternoon, when local deputies conducted a “Speed Saturation Operation” in Lancaster, authorities said.
The traffic enforcement operation began around 12 p.m. Wednesday, April 14, on Challenger Way near Avenue K-12, according to a news release from the Lancaster Sheriff’s Station. It was conducted by the Lancaster Traffic Detail, members of LANCAP and multiple patrol units.
“This operation was part of our ongoing effort to reduce fatal and injury traffic collisions in the city. The operation resulted in over 70 citations during the three hour operation,” the news release states.
In 2020, 29 fatal traffic collisions and more than 800 injury collisions occurred in the city of Lancaster. Speed was a factor in nearly 60% of the fatal traffic collisions, and the speed involved in the collisions was directly related to the extent of the injuries the parties endured, according to the news release.
Lancaster Sheriff’s Station will be conducting similar enforcement efforts throughout the city in the future, and officials are reminding motorists to slow down, be attentive, and drive defensively and sober.
“The life you save may be a friend, relative, or your own,” officials said in the news release.

Operation Re-Fund the police through speeding ticket fines is a success!
Do they take EBT cards, is President Bite Me going to have a special program to bail out low income speeders? Questions…questions.

… compounding all the lane closures, taking so many lanes away overbuilding these bike lanes nobody ever uses, what city council did to downtown Lancaster exacerbated east-west traffic across Avenue I and Avenue J. Too much start stop, none of the lights synchronized, getting from the freeway to East Lancaster a nuisance, about the only thing Lancaster City Council’s good at is, running everyone’s’ frustration levels high. It is impossible speeding emergency vehicles down Lancaster Boulevard.

Nice work badge pushers! Bushwhacking motorists for their rent money. Maybe you blue boys will set the record for how many new people each day hate your guts!

We live on a side street off J8 and people regularly drive through here at 45 to 50mph, between parked cars. Children live on this street and often play in it, so speeders do you think this is safe behavior and the police aren’t justified in trying to slow you down ?

Perhaps if the people that manage the street would do their job people would drive better. They have eliminated half the lanes of traffic for most of the mile between AVE’s K and L. WTF. The speed limit is 45mph which is way lower than the speed limits on conjested roads in most of Lancaster. WTF. They just wanted the money from the tickets.

80 mph plus now commonplace across eastbound Ave H, Ave I, Ave J, Ave K, Ave L, East Lancaster residents are out-of-control. Blowing red lights, save who may, dodging children in crosswalks, those people are lawless.
