Motorcyclist killed in Lancaster traffic crash ID’d

LANCASTER – Authorities have identified the motorcyclist who died Monday after colliding with a driver who ran a red light in a Lancaster intersection.

He was 33-year-old Nicholas Descisciolo from Lake Hughes, according to the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office.

The fatal collision happened around 11:54 a.m. Monday, May 24, on Avenue J-8 and Challenger Way, according to a news release from the Lancaster Sheriff’s Station.

“Preliminary investigation indicates a female adult in a Honda was traveling westbound on Avenue J-8 and reportedly did not stop for the red signal light at Challenger Way. A male adult on a Honda motorcycle was traveling northbound on Challenger Way and reportedly had a green signal light. As the male adult on the motorcycle entered the intersection, the female adult collided into him,” the news release states.

Descisciolo was ejected from his motorcycle, and the motorcycle then crashed into a Kia that was stopped at a red light on Avenue J-8, facing eastbound, according to the news release.

Descisciolo was pronounced dead at the scene by responding paramedics.

No other names were released in connection with the collision.

“The cause of the collision is still being investigated. The speeds of this collision are still under investigation. At this time it appears alcohol or drugs did not play a roll,” the sheriff’s news release states.

  2. I always enjoy how so many call this an “accident” and brush it off like it could NOT be avoided. No excuse for it. The CHP calls it a “TC” (traffic collision).
    There really are a lot of inattentive, distracted, ignorant and self absorbed drivers in So Cal and certainly here in Lancaster/Palmdale.
    Get a good lawyer and make them pay: jail time and money.

  4. I agree, I’m so tired of these people driving don’t use a turn signal it only take a second. People behind u don’t which way r u turning have to damn repect for other drivers, u do not have to look at the passenger sitting next to while ur driving pay attention to the street r the freeway. Why do u people c someone coming n u turn n front of them and drive slow knowing that they’re driving the speed limit like 50 and u driving slower n front of them that’s why you people have accidents and u wonder why. Attention people u have a nice car they put turn sign for u to use when someone hit u you want to blame them. BS ur looking out of ur ASSHOLE and don’t know which way to go. I don’t know how any of u got ur drivers license from. Listen we all n American stop driving like a damn idiot that’s what I see everyday. When I’m driving and piss me off. That’s you killing yourself, ur family, n someone else family or love one. Think about you are the killer no one else IDIOT.

  7. She made a decision that her life was more important than Nick’s life. In that fatal decision she took the life of a wonderful young man, the husband of a young forever couple and the countless lives that are forever changed. Why? This was not an accident, this was a decision…….it’s surreal

    • Were you in the car?

      Every person I know who has run a red light was just momentarily distracted, not “making a decision.”

      • There’s no such thing as distracted. You shouldn’t be behind a wheel if you’re busy with anything else because forever changes came be made like this one!

          Tell me you’ve never missed seeing a light change. I have. Wasn’t doing anything terrible, just caught something out of the corner of my eye that seemed important and when I got back on the intersection the light was changed and I was too late. I didn’t crash and it was “no big deal,” but if you wanna claim that never happens to you, just keep driving and eventually it will.

          You wanna tell me you have never drifted out of your lane, ever?

          Never missed a car in your blind spot and made a bad lane change, ever?

          Okay skip this list. If you have never made a mistake behind the wheel and gotten through it by just dumb luck then good on you…but unless you just started driving yesterday I honestly don’t believe you.

        • Thousands of people are killed each year involving distracted drivers. Each one of these people mattered, and forever changed the lives of those that loved the person that is no longer with them. So arguing over whether it was a decision or a distraction doesn’t change the fact that children, adults, families die.

Nick, you always took care of me when I was in the shop buying jewelry, I just found out about this Horrific tragedy. My heart goes out to you and your family.   8. I am shocked LASD will not put a full-time Car on Challenger and patrol from Ave J. to Ave K. I’ve seen guys on illegal, unlicensed, unregistered mini-bikes, ATV’s and Dirt Bikes, none of them registerable for street use; riding up and down in this area for a solid couple of years, and they keep riding!

    Where’s a Cop when you need one?

    • I’m seeing these types of off-road bikes more and more. I saw a group of six of them on J-8 between 35th & 30th Streets West (they were riding east) later than dusk. Not one of the dirt bikes had a light. They were riding as if they owned the road. These kids are just a tragic incident in the making.

  11. When are they going to do a Roundabout in that intersection?!!! There is so many accidents there!!!

    • The majority of Antelope Valley drivers do not know how to use a round a bout. FYI, It’s not a four way stop.

      • There’s roundabouts at 15th Street West + Lancaster Blvd, 15th Street East + Lancaster Blvd, and Challenger Way + Avenue L, and there’s never been a single crash at any of them.

        They’re much safer than roundabouts

    • Pretty sure u don’t need one when there is a light. After the roundabouts that have been put up here, nobody has a clue how they work. Like people who stop on the Blvd going east and west. At least with lights people know how to use them. Its getting them to acknowledge and not run them that’s the problem.

      • So you are saying that traffic going east&west have the right of way? I have never seen that in the California Drivers Handbook.

        • Have u ever traveled on Lancaster bl? Do u even live here? Yes from Sierra Hwy to 10th St W, the traffic going east and west has the right of way.

          • Yes I have traveled the Lancaster Blvd.(not bl) since 1969 but you (not u) were talking about the roundabout ,which is at 15th. West , not the area between Sierra and 10th. West

          • If u read it again, my point was that people come to roundabouts and have no clue what to do, just like how people on the Blvd come to a stop when traveling east and west, and that people at least know what to do at a light. That is why the Blvd was brought up and what I was saying.

            Traffic on the circle has the right of way over traffic entering it
