LANCASTER – Authorities have released the names of two women and two children killed Friday in a wrong-way crash with a big rig in Lancaster.
The driver was Sandra Jones, 62, of Lancaster. The female passenger who died at a hospital was Roslind Harris, 59, also of Lancaster. The children — who both died in hospitals — were David Howard, 6, and Justin Howard, 8, both of Las Vegas, the coroner’s office said.
A 5-year-old boy who was hospitalized in critical condition following the crash has also died, according to KTLA. His name has not yet been released. Jones (the driver) was the grandmother of the three deceased boys, KTLA reported.
The fatal crash happened around 9:11 a.m. Friday, June 4, on Avenue G just west of 30th Street East, according to a California Highway Patrol report. Jones was driving a 2019 Dodge Challenger westbound in the eastbound lane of Avenue G when the vehicle collided head-on with a 2017 Peterbilt truck, leaving the Challenger crumpled and the big rig’s cab overturned, the CHP report states. It was unclear what other factors led up to the crash.
The trucker, 44-year-old Santos D. Torres from Corona, suffered minor injuries but was not taken to a hospital, the CHP said.
The CHP’s Antelope Valley is urging anyone with information about this crash to call them at 661-948-8541.

How do you know it wasn’t the result of some sort of medical emergency that caused the driver to become confused? You know what they say about people who make assumptions… they usually just end up making an a$$ out of themselves.
