LITTLEROCK – Authorities have identified the pedestrian who was struck and killed by a vehicle in Littlerock early Monday morning.
He was 85-year-old Benjamin Sotelo Hernandez of Palmdale, according to the Los Angeles County coroner’s office and the California Highway Patrol.
The crash was reported around 4:55 a.m. Monday, Nov. 8, at 90th Street East and East Palmdale Boulevard, according to a CHP report.
Hernandez was crossing 90th Street East “in a dimly lit area of the roadway” when he was hit by a 2002 Chevrolet that was traveling northbound on 90th Street East, the CHP report states.
“(The driver) was unable to see (him) until it was too late for her to stop her vehicle,” the CHP said. “The involvement of alcohol and/or drugs is unknown at this time and is still under investigation.”
The driver, 37-year-old Edith Arriaga Vazquez of Littlerock, remained at the scene, the CHP reported. She was not arrested.

This was an accident. He was an elderly man, elderly people tend to wake up in the early hours, he took a walk and was going home and made a mistake in crossing. Nothing more needs to be read into. Accidents happen. Now he is in heaven waiting to be reunited with his family. You won’t die until Jesus is ready to bring you home. I pray he died instantly and was taken to be with Jesus in the air. And for the lady that hit him, please don’t take all the burden and blame of guilt on yourself. I am a late night, early morning driver and I know how the roads are. Dear, sweet Edith, you are not at fault, you are a victim of the circumstances. The only way to heal for you is to get close to Jesus as your best friend. Once you can take that mindset, you will heal. I AM a prophet which is not a big deal, there will be many in the later days, but as a prophet I want you to know that the entire universe knows you are not at fault, you were just a vessel. And our beautiful victim may be always worshipped and loved and cared for because she was the ideal. We must find the positivity to help us live on. You are ok Edith, you never would have done this on purpose. I love you and you will be ok. And I love our victim and know they will be ok too. Jesus is here, don’t forget it.

In Littlerock, there are no sidewalks, streetlights & traffic signals everywhere like Palmdale or Lancaster.. It’s a very ”RURAL” town. Most properties are 1 acre or more. There’s lots of ”Horses & Farm Animals” & residents that live there to get away from the ”City Life” & traffic problems. Most residential streets have a speed limit of ”45 ” & some are ”55”… At night, it’s PITCH BLACK !! My sympathies go to the family of Mr. Hernandez & may he R.I.P. Why this man was out at that time of the morning is anyone’s guess, & I imagine after his death, people with aging Parents & Grandparents living with them will be more aware of the dangers for them.

At his age, his family should have been taking better care of him. No way he should have to be
out that time of morning.

You favor locking him up and cashing his SS checks?
