LANCASTER – The city of Lancaster is inviting residents to submit projects for its upcoming annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service.
“Whether you already have an activity planned that you would like included on the roster of projects or the seed of an idea… the city would like to hear from you. Volunteer efforts of the event will be directed towards improving the areas of greatest interest and need in the community,” according to a news release by the city of Lancaster.
While the MLK Jr. Day of Service will be officially hosted on Saturday, Jan. 15, the projects can be held any time during January 2022. In past years, projects have included cleaning up illegal dump site waste, painting park fences, renovating the homes of veterans, and serving food to the homeless.
Projects can be submitted by organizations, businesses, and individuals. The application process is available online at: www.cityoflancasterca.org/mlkday. The deadline for submissions is Dec. 5. For more information, call 661-723-6077 or email mlkday@cityoflancasterca.org.
