Two Lancaster teachers are appearing on Wheel of Fortune during the “Disney Secret Santa” themed weeks where contestants will be spinning the Wheel and solving puzzles for prizes, including luxurious Disney vacations.
First, Lydia Romero will be a contestant on Wheel of Fortune on Wednesday, Dec. 8. She is married with six sons and loves to take them camping. She has been watching Wheel of Fortune since she was a little girl and describes wanting to be like Vanna growing up. Lydia was selected to be a contestant after applying with a video at WheelofFortune.com. She is especially grateful to be playing during “Disney Secret Santa” because she is a huge Disney fan and her family is big on Christmas traditions, like drinking hot chocolate while watching holiday movies.
The following week on Monday, Dec. 13, Crystal Haskins will take a spin. Crystal grew up in Lancaster and now teaches third grade in the same school district she attended as a student. She is married with four children and everyone in the family is a Disney fan. She has watched Wheel of Fortune all her life and, after years of applying to be a contestant every night at WheelofFortune.com, she finally was selected to appear. She describes being “ecstatic” when she got the news. “My favorite things are Christmas and Disney!” Crystal said. “It seriously doesn’t get better than that.”
Wheel of Fortune airs on weeknights on KABC (ABC 7) at 7:30 p.m.
The two weeks of “Disney Secret Santa” shows coincide with this year’s “Secret Santa Holiday Giveaway,” so whatever Lydia and Crystal win on the show, a lucky Wheel Watchers Club member at home can win too. From Dec. 6 through Dec. 17, each contestant will become a “Secret Santa” to an at-home viewer. If a Wheel Watchers Club member’s SPIN ID number is revealed, he or she will be eligible to win the exact same prizes won by the contestant. Viewers whose SPIN ID numbers are revealed will then log on to www.wheeloffortune.com within 24 hours of the broadcast to claim their prizes. To date, Wheel of Fortune has awarded more than $3 million in cash and prizes to viewers thanks to the “Secret Santa Holiday Giveaway.” For more details, visit https://www.wheeloffortune.com/win/secret-santa-s39/.
Wheel of Fortune fans can submit applications at https://www.wheeloffortune.com/join/be-a-contestant for a chance to be invited to a virtual audition. There, potential contestants can show off their puzzle-solving skills and potentially be selected to appear as a contestant on the show from the comfort of their own homes. If selected to be on the show, everyone goes home with a minimum of $1,000.
