The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County decreased Thursday, Sept. 1, for the 77th time in the last 79 days since setting a record, dropping nine-tenths of a cent to $5.253, its lowest amount since March 5.
The average price has dropped $1.207 since rising to a record $6.462 on June 14, including six-tenths of a cent on Wednesday, according to figures from the AAA and the Oil Price Information Service.
The average price is 5.5 cents less than one week ago and 38.7 cents lower than one month ago, but 85 cents more than one year ago.
The national average price dropped for the 79th consecutive day since rising to a record, decreasing 1.2 cents to $3.829. It has dropped $1.187 since rising to a record $5.016 on June 14, including three-tenths of a cent on Wednesday.
The national average price is 4.9 cents less than one week ago and 38.3 cents lower than one month ago, but 65.5 cents more than one year ago.
