The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County decreased Friday for the 78th time in the last 80 days since setting a record, dropping seven-tenths of a cent to $5.246, its lowest amount since March 4.
The average price has dropped $1.216 since rising to a record $6.462 on June 14, including nine-tenths of a cent on Thursday, according to figures from the AAA and the Oil Price Information Service.
The average price is 4.9 cents less than one week ago and 37.9 cents lower than one month ago, but 84.4 cents more than one year ago.
The national average price dropped for the 80th consecutive day since rising to a record, decreasing 2 cents to $3.809. It has dropped $1.207 since rising to a record $5.016 on June 14, including 1.2 cents on Thursday.
The national average price is 6 cents less than one week ago and 38 cents lower than one month ago, but 62.6 cents more than one year ago.
