PALMDALE – Authorities have identified the driver who died in a head-on collision in Palmdale Saturday evening.
He was 35-year-old Emmanuel Francisco of Lancaster, according to the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office.
The fatal two-vehicle crash happened around 6:46 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 12, on 40th Street East just south of Avenue O, according to a California Highway Patrol report.
Francisco was driving a 2022 Kia Forte northbound on 40th Street East when his vehicle collided with a 2020 Toyota Corolla that was traveling southbound on 40th Street East, according to the CHP report.
“For reasons still under investigation, a head on collision occurred which caused both vehicles to lose control and overturn. As a result of this crash, [Francisco] sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene,” the CHP report states.
A male passenger in Francisco’s vehicle — 31-year-old Nain Rosa of Los Angeles — sustained major injuries and was transported to Antelope Valley Hospital for treatment.
The Toyota Corolla’s driver — 39-year-old Monique Hope Lopez of Lancaster — and an 11-year-old female passenger in the Corolla both sustained major injuries and were transported to Northridge Hospital, according to the CHP report.
“The cause of this collision is still under investigation. The use of alcohol and/or drugs is still under investigation,” the CHP report states.
