PALMDALE – Authorities have identified the driver killed early Saturday morning in a single-vehicle rollover crash on the Antelope Valley (14) Freeway in Palmdale.
He was 32-year-old Harold Brown of Lancaster, according to the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office.
The fatal collision happened around 2:19 a.m. Saturday, March 18, on southbound State Route 14, south of Avenue O, according to a California Highway Patrol report.
Brown was driving a 2005 BMW X5 southbound on SR-14 when, for reasons still under investigation, the vehicle veered off the roadway, crashed into a metal guardrail and dirt embankment, and then overturned, the CHP report states. Brown sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
A passenger in the BMW, 40-year-old Lonell Veloz of Boron, sustained moderate injuries in the collision and was transported to Antelope Valley Hospital for treatment, according to the CHP report.
“Alcohol and/or drugs are unknown to be a factor in this collision,” the CHP report states.
