PALMDALE – A man and woman were shot to death in an apparent murder-suicide in Palmdale Thursday evening.
The shooting was reported around 5:36 p.m. Thursday, May 11, on the 3100 block of Solmira Place, according to a news release from the Sheriff’s Information Bureau.
“When deputies arrived on scene, they located a White male, 55 to 60 years of age, suffering from what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound to his upper torso. They also located a Hispanic female, 55 to 60 years of age, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to her upper torso. Both individuals were pronounced deceased at the scene by the Los Angeles County Fire Department,” the news release states.
Their names have not been released pending next of kin notification, according to the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office.
A third victim was found at the location suffering from an apparent gunshot wound, and that victim was transported to the hospital for treatment, according to the news release.
“No further information will be released at this time regarding the third victim,” sheriff’s officials said in the news release.
Sheriff’s officials would not confirm a report from a source at the scene that a 16-year-old boy was the third victim, shot while trying to protect his mother from her boyfriend. The source at the scene said the boyfriend fatally shot the woman before turning the gun on himself.
