LANCASTER – The Lancaster Community Center (LCC) organized a community cleanup on June 24 as part of the city’s TIDE-Y Up A Mile program.
The group of 41 volunteers included representatives from IMPACT, Grace Resources, and Project Joy, along with Miss Lancaster, Young Miss Lancaster, and Little Miss Lancaster. Armed with gloves, trash bags, and trash pickers, the dedicated volunteers scoured the LCC’s adopted mile to rid it of unsightly litter. In just two hours, the group successfully filled two 6-yard dumpsters with various forms of debris, leaving the area around the LCC looking revitalized and clean.
“The success of the Lancaster Community Center cleanup event is a testament to the inspiring community spirit that thrives in Lancaster,” Mayor R. Rex Parris said in a news release. “Seeing community members unite to maintain our shared space speaks to our mutual dedication to strengthening our city.”
The LCC formally adopted the local mile in January and has assumed the responsibility of continuously beautifying the area throughout the year. The next clean-up event hosted by the LCC will be held on Saturday, Aug. 26. For more information on the Lancaster Community Center, visit: www.cityoflancasterca.org/lcc.
Lancaster’s TIDE-Y Up A Mile Program provides individuals, businesses, organizations, and public agencies with the opportunity to gain recognition while beautifying the environment within their own communities. Individuals over 11 years of age, businesses, public agencies, and organizations are welcome to adopt a section of roadway for a period of two years. Councilman Ohlsen in Palmdale had community clean-ups for a couple of years and no one noticed or supported him. Palmdale gave him some support, but Lancaster and the Rexster were absent. Now that he is running for another term, the Rexster is trying to be interested in the AV. Nice try, but Laguna Nigel and Malibu is a little too far to be interested!

The Rexter donated tens of thousands of dollars to Ohlson. Ohlson is one of the four Palmdale councilpeople that are bought and paid for by Lancaster. Loa, Bishop, and Alacarn are the others. If you are wondering why things in Palmdale are crazier than ever, look no farther than who is controlling the council.
