LANCASTER – Local residents are invited to bike, rollerblade, ride a scooter, or stroll down to The BLVD on Saturday, Sept. 16, to experience Lancaster’s Walk N Roll Fest, a community event that opens up eight blocks of Lancaster streets for music, information booths, entertainment, food, family fun, and much more.
The festival is made possible with funding from the city’s community partner, Metro, organizers said in a news release.
“Walk N Roll Fest is an excellent opportunity for the community to reimagine their streets while walking, riding a bicycle, rollerblading, or pushing a stroller in a car-free environment,” the news release states.
Residents can get involved in Walk N Roll Fest by participating in the planned activities, volunteering at the event, or simply enjoying the vehicle-free streets. Organizers are still accepting applications for vendors and event sponsors. Application information is available at www.cityoflancasterca.gov/walknroll. Vendors must apply by the Aug. 4 deadline, and sponsors must register before August 18.
“Our City boasts a great stretch of shops and community resources along The BLVD,” said Lancaster Mayor R. Rex Parris. “You can gain a whole new appreciation for downtown while exploring it outside of your car. Plus, Walk N Roll Fest is a great excuse to travel by bus to get to the event—I’m particularly proud that our local provider, Antelope Valley Transit Authority, is the first all-electric transit agency in North America.”
No street parking will be allowed during Walk N Roll Fest, and vehicles parked on the route of the festival will be towed. For questions about the upcoming street closures, contact Lancaster’s PARCS Department at 661-723-6077. To learn more about the event, visit: www.cityoflancasterca.gov/walknroll.

The BLVD is generally safe midday. Most of the panhandlers and thugs are sleeping off their evening binges. You have some teens on skateboards that might irritate you but that’s it. It’s nice to see the city of Lancaster have an event that isn’t centered around alcohol. I have nothing against alcohol, but even the fair has gotten out of control with all the drunks and fights.

The Go Cart races were another epic failure by Raymond. Eye in the Sky, Communist Chinese birth tourism, Ecolution, War on Gangs, War on Section 8. One of these days he’ll get something right, but it will only be after he was squandered millions of our tax dollars in the process.
