LANCASTER – The 68th annual Junior Livestock Auction last month raised a record-breaking $1,020,252.50, organizers announced.
The event took place Aug. 24 at the AV Fair & Event Center. It was created to showcase the achievements of talented youth in the field of agriculture, while providing residents the opportunity to support the youth through the purchase of their homegrown livestock.
Starting in 2024, the auction will be held in the month of April to coincide with annual spring fairs. This change aims to create more opportunities for student exhibitor participation, local business engagement, and buyer and bidder involvement, according to organizers.

We see you says
I use to be impressed with the amount the kids would earn, but after years of watching and seeing a low placing pig in its class gets $25,000. There is defiantly some illegal money transfers going on the IRS should really look into. Whoever paid the $25,000 is actually paying daddies company back for product or a service that would not be eligible as a tax write off, but now that its a livestock auction donation to a youth its a great way to sneak in that write off and pay for the goods. This happens in the AV Livestock Auction every year and its always the same group of families. Time to find a new way to beat the tax man.
