LANCASTER – Authorities have identified the man killed late Monday night when the car he was driving collided with an SUV in Lancaster.
He was 19-year-old Kannon Pandy of Lancaster, according to the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner.
The crash occurred around 10:40 p.m. Monday, Sept. 25, on Challenger Way near Avenue H-4, according to Sgt. Michael Politano of the Lancaster Sheriff’s Station.
“Preliminary investigation indicates a male adult in a sedan was northbound on Challenger Way when he reportedly made a left turn or attempted a U-turn in the path of an SUV which was traveling southbound on Challenger Way,” Politano said in a statement. “The driver of the sedan was not seat belted and was fatally injured.”
Pandy was pronounced dead at the scene. The man driving the SUV was taken to a hospital with minor injuries, Politano said.
“It is unknown at this time if alcohol or drugs played a role with the driver of the sedan,” Politano said.
