PALMDALE – One person was killed in a two-vehicle collision in Palmdale Wednesday night and deputies are still investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision.
The fatal collision occurred around 9:04 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 11, on Palmdale Boulevard, according to the Palmdale Sheriff’s Station.
Deputies responded to the scene and during the course of their investigation learned one vehicle was traveling east on Palmdale Boulevard and the second vehicle was traveling west when the driver of the first vehicle swerved into the oncoming traffic lane and collided with the front of the westbound vehicle.
The victim, a passenger in the second vehicle, was taken to a hospital and pronounced dead, authorities said. The victim’s name has not yet been released pending next of kin notification, according to the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office.
The driver of the first vehicle was arrested at the scene for driving under the influence of alcohol. The driver’s name was not immediately released.
Palmdale Boulevard was closed between 70th Street East. and 80th Street East while deputies conducted their investigation. Anyone with additional information regarding this collision is encouraged to contact Palmdale Sheriff’s Station Detective Cynthia Knutson at 661-272-2596.
