PALMDALE – Four people were injured Thursday morning in a crash involving a Los Angeles County Fire Department vehicle and two other vehicles, including a county Parks Department pickup, in the Palmdale area, authorities said.
The crash occurred around 10:10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 25, on Palmdale Boulevard near 140th Street East, according to the California Highway Patrol. Two firefighters and two other people were injured, according to the fire department.
CHP officials said a Los Angeles County Parks and Recreation Ford F-150 and a Nissan Altima were both being driven west on Palmdale Boulevard, east of 140th Street East. The two vehicles somehow collided, and the F-150 then smashed into a Los Angeles County Fire Department Dodge Ram that was heading east. The motorist in the F-150 was taken to a hospital with significant injuries by ambulance, officials said. The passenger sustained minor injuries and was also taken to a hospital. The driver of the Dodge Ram was airlifted to a hospital with major injuries, while the driver of the Nissan was taken to a hospital by ambulance with minor injuries.
Traffic was routed away from the area while an investigation was conducted into the circumstances of the crash, but all lanes were reopened by late afternoon.
