LANCASTER – A driver who was killed when his SUV swerved off a Lancaster road on Jan. 25 has been identified.
He was 35-year-old Zachary Berger of Pearblossom, according to the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner’s office.
The fatal single-vehicle collision happened around 7 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 24, on Pearblossom Highway west of 165th Street East, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The preliminary investigation revealed that Berger was driving a 2018 Nissan Armada eastbound on Pearblossom Highway when he swerved off the roadway and overturned for reasons still under investigation, the CHP said. Berger was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle, according to the CHP. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

I knew this man long ago. I used to party with him as a teen and young adult. He loved to drive fast and lived how he died. While driving.
I cannot say as to why he lost control or didn’t wear his seat belt. Possibly tired and dosed off for a second.
