PALMDALE – Five people were arrested and thousands of cannabis plants were seized when authorities raided a marijuana cultivation operation in Palmdale on January 25.
The six-location search warrant operation was conducted by the Palmdale Sheriff’s Station Partners Against Crime team, in collaboration with LASD’s Marijuana Eradication team. The search led to the seizure of 4,347 marijuana plants and about five hundred pounds of harvested cannabis flower, according to a news release from the city of Palmdale.
The five individuals who were arrested are face felony narcotics charges, city officials said in the news release.
“The city of Palmdale remains committed to ensuring the safety of our residents,” said Palmdale Mayor Austin Bishop. “This successful operation sends a clear message that illegal activities will not be tolerated, and we will continue to collaborate with our partner agencies to uphold the integrity of our community.”
Palmdale’s Building and Safety division played a crucial role in the raids, documenting numerous building code violations at the locations. In response to the drug bust, the California Department of Tax and Fee Administration has launched an investigation into potential tax evasion. The Narcotics Bureau has also initiated a civil abatement case against the tenants of the properties involved. Additionally, Southern California Edison inspected the six locations and disconnected electrical power due to hazardous electrical wiring.
“I extend my sincere thanks to the dedicated law enforcement teams, city staff and public entities who contributed to this operation,” said Palmdale Mayor Pro Tem Richard J. Loa. “ Your cooperation in a dedicated effort for the community’s well-being is truly commendable.”
