PALMDALE – In an effort to empower youth and ensure their well-being, the city of Palmdale has unveiled a significant initiative: The Fentanyl Awareness Spring Program.
Geared towards young community members aged 12 to 17, this educational series spans three days, running from Tuesday, March 26 to Thursday, March 28, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The program will take place at two locations: Palmdale Oasis Park Recreation Center, situated at 3850 E. Ave. S. in Palmdale, and Lancaster Community Center, located at 44611 Yucca Ave in Lancaster. Lunch and water will be provided to participants.
This program, offered free of charge, aims to equip participants with essential tools for personal development, social competence, and resilience against drugs and other societal pressures. Attendees will be educated on making informed decisions, mastering stress reduction techniques, cultivating effective anger management strategies, and nurturing positive relationships. Additionally, they will receive guidance on navigating complex social scenarios and critically assessing media influences.
“We are committed to equipping students in our community with the knowledge and skills necessary to make positive choices for a brighter future,” said Palmdale Mayor Austin Bishop. “Together, we can educate, empower and protect our youth from the dangers of substance misuse.”
